Implant-supported dentistry brings you as close to growing new teeth as possible. Implants themselves are surgical-grade titanium parts that mimic missing tooth roots and provide a foundation upon which your dentist can build new teeth. Dentures can also be attached to implants to provide better retention.
With great skill and a close partnership between Dr. Mathai and an implant surgeon, we can replace your teeth in a way that is undetectable.
The first step towards replacing teeth with implants involves a consultation with Dr. Mathai and with an oral surgeon to determine the best treatment plan for you.
Implants that are placed require some time to integrate into your jaw. This healing period usually lasts from 3-6 months. Most patients experience minimal discomfort after placement, and depending on the nature and location of your implant(s), a temporary prosthesis may be made for you.
After the healing period, crowns or bridges will be custom-made and attached to the implants with small screws. This involves one or several record-taking appointments to convey all the needed information about your bite and smile to the dental lab.
Care for your implants like you would the rest of your mouth - brushing and flossing to keep the gums healthy around them is important for their longevity. You will also likely receive a night guard to protect your implants from breakage and damage due to clenching/grinding habits and will be given oral hygiene instructions customized to your case.
If cared for properly, your implants should provide a lifetime of service.
The "all on 6" or hybrid denture protocol involves placing usually 4-6 implants in the jaw to replace the full arch of teeth. Often referred to as "teeth in a day," this can be an efficient and economical way to replace many teeth that cannot be saved, and provides a non-removable alternative to dentures.
